17th September 2003 Kite surfing: Golf Course Car Park, Borth Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 13-15 knots Surf / Sea State: 1 foot surf Air Temperature: 22ºC Sea Temperature: 17ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered: What a perfect session!!! :) Shem said he'd meeet me at the beach at around 4pm, but I got there early and was on the water by 4pm. At first i was a little overpowered, so came back in and depowered the kite a little and then everything was perfect. I was just perfectly powered up and able to fly upwind. To start with I worked my way upwind, and was about half a mile along the beach towards Borth within a few tacks. I then stayed around there for a while just cruising back and forth with a jump at either end of my run. A few times on the way out I managed to time my jumps just right so that I jumped off a wave, and just as I reached the apex of that jump, got lift from the kite and went up even further. Sme of the jumps were pretty high and floaty, and often I turned around in mid-air, and managed to land back on the wave I'd jumped off and ride along it for a bit. Shem didn't turn up for some reason. The beach was pretty quiet, so there was no holiday makers to get in the way, and the sun was shinign...Just perfect. I finished off the session with a few mad downwind runs just jumping all the way!! Oh... I put the smaller fins on my board before going out as well. It didn't seem to make a huge deal of difference though. |
